This week’s tips include a rounded Riesling from Germany’s innovative Pfalz region and a nicely crafted Spanish red – both on offer until early April. I also bring you news of Easter deals at Majestic, new ‘Buy 6 and save 25%’ offers at Asda and Sainsbury’s, and a reminder of the Tesco promotion that ends today.
2018 The Best Riesling (£6.50 – instead of £8.50 until 6 April – at Morrisons)
Once largely home to mundane white wine, Germany’s Pfalz region is now a hotbed of winemaking innovation.
This attractively dry Riesling demonstrates the point well. Its rounded, tangy apple and pear foundation combines brilliantly with lime centred acidity, herby touches and only a hint of Riesling’s trademark kerosene.
2019 Raso de la Cruz (£6 – instead of £7 until 5 April – at M&S)
A nicely crafted, well-priced example, this typifies everyday Spanish wine made from local grape varieties.
Nothing heavy or elaborate just straight-forward, juicy and lightly textured red wine with concentrated plum and loganberry flavours, good acidity, suggestions of baking spice and milk chocolate and gently evolving tannin.

At Sainsbury’s
The latest promotion from Sainsbury’s kicked off last week, running until 13 April. A new ‘Buy 6 and save 25%’ offer also launched yesterday which will finish on 3 April.

At Asda
On top of the Spring deals which we highlighted in last week’s post, and a new set of Rollback deals, Asda have also announced a buy 6 and save 25% promotion on wine and fizz which is expected to run until Monday 5 April.

Easter promotions at Majestic will also run until 5 April. See their latest digital listing or new-look website for details of discounts and mixed case savings. One discount in particular to look out for:
