Here are the latest offers and promotions

Catch up with our latest review of promotions in major retailers with a close look at selected segments of those offers.

Welcome to our Thursday review of promotions in major retailers which takes a detailed look at selected segments of those deals.

Todays feature picture is of Morrisons The Best Vinho Verde Loureiro that has dropped £2.75 to £6 until mid-month.

It is a soft, “drink anytime” white with zesty lime acidity and vague savoury traces to underpin its red apple, ripe melon and orange flavours.

That is by no means the only reduction available at the moment so read on to see what might float your boat at your own favourite retailer.

I have also included a “Sunrise and Sunset” colouration – with new promotions given a yellow background and those about to expire given a pink one.

At Tesco

A new promotion (again, exclusively for Clubcard holders) started recently and will run through until 14 February.

Around 10% of the deals involve rosé or fizz (presumably with St Valentine in mind) and about the same proportion drop prices to under £5 – but these are largely straight forward branded wines.

A sweet spot for many MidWeekers is wine on promotion at £6 so here is a list of those in the current promotion that drop to that point from £8 – the biggest reduction for £6 wines.

At Sainsbury’s

At Sainsbury’s, the current offers end a little earlier (on 8 February) and as usual they apply to main stores but not Sainsbury’s convenience stores.

The current promotion reduces prices on 100 items but I have singled out (and listed below) those with a 20% or 25% reduction that, as a result, have a selling price of £6 at he moment.

Fairly obviously, “TTD” stands for Taste the Difference and “PG” for pinot grigio.

At Morrisons

Morrisons have an extensive range of promotions (tailored to cover the pricing and other polices in different parts of the UK) but this round of price reductions is due to expire on 15 February.

Today, I have picked out discounts of 20% or more on Morrisons premium own label wines (“The Best”) – since they are often good value – and I show here their selling price during this promotion.

At Waitrose

The current promotion at Waitrose runs until 22 February and contains the usual extensive range of offers and discounts that are well documented on this page of their website.

Since the promotion period covers Valentine’s Day, here is a selection of the rosé and sparkling wines included in this series of offers (with the usual price in the middle column and the current price at the end).

At the Co-op

The Co-op started a fresh round of promotions yesterday and details appear at the foot of this page – because of the retailer’s structure, with (often autonomous) local groupings, things can differ from place to place.

So it’s especially important to check the price in any particular store before committing yourself – the price on the shelf is the definitive one.

At M&S

Once again, M&S have taken a broader view, highlighting what they can offer for Burns Night, the Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day.

Showing all that online is not easy given the link M&S have with Ocado, so here are some of the reductions available in M&S physical stores through to 7 March.

  1. Hi John ….. Quite hard to cover the full range of retailers that most people use yet avoid the information overload that you obviously find. Happy to hear ideas about how best to do that and whether others also find the post too long. nothing precious about the format…… Best, as ever …. Brian

  2. I never mind words of appreciation Keith – thank you – but do attempts to be comprehensive make things unwieldy and excessively lengthy?

  3. In answer, I personally don’t think so. However, if you ask a 100 people their views on a particular wine you’ll likely get a 100 different answers, that’s what makes wine such a fascinating subject.

  4. Thanks Carl that is great to hear, and much appreciated. I am still trying to strike the right balance between posts being too long and being too skimpy in detail. Do, please, keep feeding back what works for you as I, obviously, get too close to it to be completely objective.
